hen Banjo-Kazooie came out on the Nintendo 64 it was one of those games that I thought looked pretty stupid but upon playing it I was instantly hooked and a huge fan. I completed the game 100% and found all of Rareware's nifty secrets and enjoyed the follow-up titles in the franchise. Banjo-Kazooie got quiet after a while, but with the release of Nuts & Bolts on Xbox 360 they re-released the original via Xbox Live Arcade. For old time's sake I purchased it and relived the greatness.

owever as I was playing it, this time with a more mature (and dirtier) mindset, I began to wonder if the kind light of Rule 34 had shined upon the series. Specifially I was looking to see if someone had tarnished Mr Vile the greedy crocodile from Bubblegloop Swamp. A few people had, but it just didn't do the reptile justice. I took matters into my own hands and began work on this piece as a means to rectify this clearly pressing matter.

he "problem" with Banjo-Kazooie is that it's a very cartoony game when it comes to character design, and anybody who knows me knows that I just don't do cartoony artwork; it's my second commandment (the first being "no anthro" of course). I took a second to think about it and decided that I'd just interpret the characters into realistic counterparts while keeping the traits that made them unique in the game. I kept all of the colorations the same as the video game's (with the exception of accidentally making Vile's member pink and not purple) and began translating their physical appearances.

assumed that by the game's standards Crocodile Banjo was a "regular" crocodile so I went ahead and drew him as just that, a regular reptile. However he wears clothes in the game at all times, even when he is in a transformation. I stuck his backpack onto his back (wonder what Kazooie makes of this whole scene, haha) and put his now onesie-ish pair of shorts back on and made sure to unbuckle them. Vile on the other hand has a few snaggleteeth that define his character in the game, so while I gave him a full set of chompers as well I made sure to take note of the placement of his snaggleteeth and put them in their proper place.
