o, I have not "sold out" to anthro. I promise you that. I know, I know. I know it is quite alarming that my last two pieces of artwork have been *gasp* anthro. I have reasons (excuses) for that, and they are as follows: Lizardman from Soul Calibur is just sexy, I am sorry, and this piece is of a Dungeons & Dragons character so in a way technically it's just more fan art.
myself am not a D&D kinda guy but a friend of mine is and he has been casually asking me since summer if I'd like to get involved with him and his friends who all get together to play D&D. Obviously since summer I have politiely declined the offer but earlier this November I buckled and decided to at least make a character. I really had my heart set on just being Dracokon the dragon and being done with it, but according to "the rules" I had to be a human or humanoid character, which was disheartening to say the least.
definitely did not want to be a human character so I asked about being a dragon or dinosaur creature; I found out that's allowed but you can only be monsters that have special additions to their profile and all of this other crazy mess. I'm not even going to get into details because I don't understand it myself, and I spent 2 hours making this character up! I finally settled on a race called "Lizardfolk" simply on the sole basis of looks. I was told (rather bluntly) that "picking a race based merely on sexual appeal isn't the point of the game because you should choose a character race with traits catered to how you want to play".
don't even know HOW to play! Just let me have my sexy reptiles and be in peace!! Despite this I was set on the Lizardfolk race, and the Dungeon Master (??), the guy who is in charge of their gaming group, is really anal about people having their own original characters so the next step was to draw my character (that I affectionately named Monsieur Kon). I seriously considered drawing him in a seductive pose offering himself to any takers but when I got as far as the guidelines my friend advised me that drawing something of that nature would piss everyone off... so I cleaned him up and instead made him scantly clad. ;)
here is not a whole lot of actual inspiration or meaning behind anything on him with the exception of one artifact: his Zeta necklace (a zoophile symbol). Everything else such as the piercing and tattoo ("ice" in the game's Draconic language) is just fluff to make him look more like a D&D character.
